Turning pastry into poetry – crafting desserts that heal, inspire, and celebrate resilience.

For Mariam Alshatti, creation began with healing. A breast cancer survivor, she rebuilt her life through the craft she loved turning pain into beauty, resilience into flavour. From that journey emerged Rosemary Kuwait, a patisserie that marries French craftsmanship with mindfulness and feminine grace. Each dessert she creates carries emotion and meaning a reflection of her belief that food can nourish both body and soul.
Trained at Le Cordon Bleu and refined at Claridge’s London, Mariam learned that excellence in pastry is an art of balance, precision guided by passion. Yet even in the world of haute pâtisserie, she longed for something deeper. Returning home to Kuwait, she brought her experiences and her healing journey together to create Rosemary: a brand that treats desserts not as indulgence, but as expression. “Food can heal,” she says. “It’s a language that connects emotion, art, and humanity.”

At Rosemary, every creation is crafted with purpose. Mariam uses organic ingredients, natural sweeteners, and mindful techniques to design desserts that are as beautiful as they are nourishing. “Luxury doesn’t have to mean excess,” she explains. “It can be intentional, conscious, and elegant.” Her menu offers two distinctive lines, one celebrating traditional French refinement, and another that embraces vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free options. In doing so, she has redefined what it means to indulge, offering sweetness with sincerity.
Launching a wellness-inspired patisserie in a market dominated by trends was a challenge. “Some people thought my concept was too niche,” she recalls. “But I trusted authenticity to speak louder than anything else.” That trust paid off. Rosemary has quietly grown into a brand known for its subtle sophistication where every piece tells a story of emotion and endurance. “Excellence isn’t about perfection,” Mariam says. “It’s about putting heart into every detail until it feels true.”

Her creative process begins not with recipes, but with feelings, memories, textures, and nature itself often shape her collections. Each dessert becomes a metaphor: for stillness, for renewal, for hope. “When someone tastes one of my creations and feels comforted or inspired, that’s when I know my work has meaning,” she says.
For Mariam, empowerment is deeply personal. “It’s trusting your essence and transforming pain into purpose,” she explains. “It’s not about comparison, it’s about authenticity.” Her journey as a woman entrepreneur in Kuwait wasn’t easy. Building a brand rooted in emotion and wellness required patience, conviction, and faith. Yet she remained steadfast, allowing her work to speak for itself.

That same philosophy is what makes Mariam one of the shining finalists in Porsche’s EmpowerHER Awards 2025. The initiative celebrates women whose leadership and innovation mirror Porsche’s own values of excellence, precision, and passion. Mariam’s alignment with those ideals is unmistakable. “Porsche represents confidence and craftsmanship,” she says. “Those same principles live in my kitchen every day.”
Beyond her creations, Mariam is shaping culture. Rosemary has sparked a movement of mindful indulgence in Kuwait, redefining dessert as a space where art, health, and femininity meet. Her clients describe her pastries as “edible calm” desserts that feel luxurious, yet emotionally grounding. “If my work can make someone pause, breathe, and feel cared for, that’s success to me,” she reflects.
Mariam also mentors aspiring chefs and women entrepreneurs, encouraging them to pursue their craft with heart and honesty. “Start before you feel ready,” she tells them. “Your authenticity is your power.” She believes in community over competition, in lifting others as she climbs.

Her defining moment came when she finally opened Rosemary after years of dreaming. “That day represented healing,” she says. “It was proof that beauty can emerge from struggle.”
Looking ahead, Mariam envisions expanding Rosemary into a boutique pastry studio – a creative sanctuary that fuses education, artistry, and wellness. She dreams of hosting workshops where food becomes a tool for healing and self-expression. “Cooking saved me,” she says softly. “Now I want it to save others.”
Mariam’s story is one of grace and quiet strength of turning adversity into artistry and purpose. Through Rosemary, she has shown that resilience can be refined, that empowerment can be elegant. She stands as a symbol of what EmpowerHER celebrates most: women who create beauty with meaning, who lead with empathy, and who remind the world that softness and strength can coexist.
“Empowerment,” she concludes, “isn’t about having it all. It’s about becoming whole and using that wholeness to inspire others.”
