Mona Albaker – Finalist of EmpowerHER 2025

Making e-commerce effortless – empowering entrepreneurs to build and grow independently online.

For Mona Al Baker, entrepreneurship began with empathy – the simple wish to help a friend. When her close friend, who ran a small home bakery, was preparing to leave Kuwait, Mona discovered that her friend’s business would have to close because there was no easy way for small entrepreneurs to sell online. “That moment stayed with me,” Mona recalls. “I realised there were so many talented local entrepreneurs with amazing products, but without access to tools or resources to grow.”

From that problem, a solution took shape, ordable/, a user-friendly platform that allows anyone to build an online store, manage orders, and grow their brand without needing advanced technical skills or big budgets. “What started as helping one friend,” she says, “turned into helping thousands of small businesses take control of their future.”

Within just a few years, ordable/ became a catalyst for Kuwait’s home-grown entrepreneurial scene. The platform now supports over 2,000 businesses across 10 countries, helping bakers, designers, and small merchants transform ideas into income. But for Mona, it’s more than technology, it’s empowerment through accessibility. “We wanted to prove that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be complicated or exclusive,” she says. “It can be simple, human, and achievable.”

For Mona, empowerment is about choice, the freedom to act, build, and lead with authenticity. “It means having the tools to succeed and the confidence to use them,” she explains. As a leader, she strives to create environments in her company and her community where others can take initiative, make decisions, and find meaning in their work. “Empowerment grows when people are trusted with ownership,” she adds.

Of Porsche’s core values, innovation resonates with her most. “Innovation isn’t about reinventing everything,” she says, “it’s about asking, ‘What if it could be better?’.” Coming from a logistics background, she sees innovation as practical evolution making things smarter, simpler, and more efficient. That mindset drives ordable’s ongoing evolution: constantly refining its tools to better serve the needs of small business owners.

Her entrepreneurial journey has been filled with defining moments from witnessing one of her early sellers break record sales in her first month to receiving a mentorship offer from Jeff Hoffman, founder of Booking.com. “I was shocked,” she admits. “To have someone like him believe in what we were building, it was surreal.” For Mona, those milestones confirmed that impact isn’t measured by scale alone, but by the lives transformed along the way.

Running a technology company while balancing family life has brought challenges of its own. “At times, I’ve had to prove myself twice, as a woman and as a founder,” she reflects. But rather than let it limit her, she used it as motivation. By building a support network of mentors, family, and peers, Mona turned obstacles into opportunities for growth.

Today, ordable/ represents far more than a digital product, it’s a statement about inclusion and self-reliance. It empowers Kuwait’s creative class to launch, manage, and own their businesses independently. “For many of our users,” Mona says, “this platform isn’t just a store; it’s their livelihood, their story, their dream finally made real.”

Her motivation comes from those same people. “When things don’t go as planned, I remind myself of why I started of all the entrepreneurs who trust us to help them succeed.” That sense of purpose fuels her drive to keep innovating, learning, and leading.

Looking ahead, Mona is focused on scaling ordable/ across new markets while preserving the brand’s authenticity and personal touch. “Growth is important,” she notes, “but meaningful growth, the kind that creates opportunity and impact matters more.”

Being part of the Porsche EmpowerHER initiative reminded her that ambition is strongest when shared. “It’s inspiring to see women across industries coming together,” she says. “The initiative made me reflect on how I can bring that same spirit of excellence into everything I do, even the small details.”

Her message to aspiring entrepreneurs is clear and practical: “Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Start where you are, with what you have. Curiosity and belief are your best tools.”

Through ordable/, Mona Al Baker has built more than a platform, she’s built a movement of empowerment. Her story embodies the essence of EmpowerHER: innovation driven by empathy, leadership grounded in purpose, and the unwavering belief that when women create solutions, they create futures.
