Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey readers! This is Danah Alkhashan, a spiritual life coach and personal growth trainer. I’m the Founder & CEO of Soul Box Coaching – a solopreneur at the age of 27. Understanding the human experience, uncovering the secrets of a blissful life, and awakening other people’s souls to life’s ultimate possibilities are my highest purpose, passion, and life-long journey. Therefore, I made it my mission to empower and help people gain self-mastery and inner authority, embrace the duality of life to find light in the pain and the unknown, take back their power of choice, and embrace their individuality. To be the kind of people we needed at our lowest and most brutal times is what we need to become in order to heal ourselves and the world around us. In other words, to break the cycles.

Tell us about your education.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Kuwait University. I graduated back in 2018, and I was on my journey to complete my master’s degree in geotechnical engineering until one day in 2020, I came to realize that an 8-years old dream of becoming a professor at Kuwait University – which was my motive to pursue higher education – was my father’s desire and not mine. I was almost done with my master’s back then, with only one course and a thesis left. Still, after quite a dark night of the soul and considering all the mental, emotional, and bodily resistance to the path I was on, I decided to drop my master’s and change course. This was a massive leap of faith for me.
Nevertheless, education for me is a life-long journey, and I live my daily life with a student mindset. I cannot imagine a day when I will stop learning. No one should.

What are your fondest childhood memories?
Well, I have to say, I don’t remember much from my childhood. I only have scattered images in my head. Still, the things I kept holding on to all these years don’t involve me. They’re the hundreds of lessons I’ve learned growing up watching Spacetoon – my generation’s most loved kids’ channel. Watching their cartoons was the most precious moments of my childhood – I could spend hours and days – because I didn’t use to watch them for fun or to waste time but at such a young age, I was really interested in understanding the human experience, how people live, how they treat each other, what different kinds of relationships look like, what values should we live by, and so much more. So, I used to watch them with vast and genuine curiosity because they mirrored the outside world for me and reflected how life should be lived – gracefully and happily. For a child who didn’t go out much and didn’t know what the outside world looked like beyond the school fence, Spacetoon was my gateway to it. I’m so grateful and happy to have grown up with such a wonderful image of the world and so much high values and principles that I still carry on to this day, and I will forever.

Run our readers through your career path?
When I graduated, and as with a large percentage of society/parents, I was told to go find a job in the governmental sector – somewhere safe, stable, and with a good income. However, I had different plans for myself, and I was never really a good follower of society’s rules. I insisted on only searching for jobs in the private sector because I wanted a place where I could ACTUALLY have work to do. A place where I could learn and gain practical experience as a civil engineer. Five months after graduation, I succeeded in my search and had my first job in a contracting company. I was happy, excited, thrilled, and impatient to start my career until I was hit by the reality of the field I was in. The work environment was nothing like my hopes and expectations. For two years, and after endless attempts, I had no role in the place. The discrimination I used to hear about against Kuwaitis in the private sector turned out to be real, and I suffered from it at that time. When I decided to shift careers and enter a different field – I wasn’t sure what back then, but I knew I wanted to work closely with people – God presented me with a job opportunity in one of the biggest technological companies in the world, Huawei. Taking on this opportunity marked my decision to drop my master’s degree, which was utterly life-changing. I was no longer a civil engineer and wanted nothing to do with it ever again. My journey with Huawei was quite a ride as well. Although the place had promising soil and I was happy with the environment, I couldn’t find myself in my job role. I had actually moved into 3 different positions within the two years I spent in Huawei in a desperate attempt to find ME, to find the role in which I can shine my light, my gifts, and my brilliance. Sadly, I couldn’t find such a place, but I’m so grateful for the company, its leaders, and all the colleagues I met and made friends with. Huawei concluded my career path and marked the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey.

Why and when did you decide to quit your job?
I quit my job on a beautiful, cool, rainy day – Wednesday, the 30th of November, 2022. I simply couldn’t find myself in that job. My soul was desperate in its search for its place in this world. My inner voice – call it the voice of the intuition or the voice of the soul – was so clear and loud in refusing and resisting the place I was in. Do you know these internal nudges that push you to take a different path, change course, or shift something? I carried these since my first job. I knew my place was somewhere else, and after years of searching, I found it when I was introduced to coaching. I was over the moon to have found THE thing that lights me up and ignites my soul on every level! Coaching holds so much wisdom, healing, and all the answers to my childhood questions. My life transformed and dramatically shifted when I learned what coaching is.

Was it a difficult or easy decision?
It was the most difficult yet exciting decision I have ever made. I was only 26 when I quit my job with no established business nor a guarantee. All I had was my faith in God, my intuition, my message and mission in this world, and my deep inner knowing that this is what I am meant to do. However, I didn’t just blindly quit my job. Instead, I calculated the risk I was about to take and made peace with the worst-case scenario. It was only then that I was able to stand firmly on my ground and carry on with my decision, regardless of what people had to say. It was scary, but I’ve learned how to befriend my fears and not listen to the voice of the ego or the mind that is always trying to keep us safe and in our comfort zone. I’ve learned to turn up the soul’s whispering and listen to its guidance.

Who influenced you to get into coaching?
In February 2021, I took a course on Mindvalley called Life Envisioning Mastery by Michael Bernard Beckwith – a great spiritual teacher, but I didn’t know him then. He was the first to introduce me to the different types of consciousness. He gave me a better understanding of the human experience. It ignited a part in me that was eager to learn more about what he shared. A short while later, and because I was taking one course after the other from the same platform Mindvalley, the Instagram algorithm brought me an ad for their 4-month Business Coaching-Consulting Certification program, which I felt called to take after reading the program breakdown. Since then, I have fallen in love with coaching and the transformation it has caused in my entire life. I uncovered and healed parts of me I never knew existed. I became a different, almost unrecognizable person in just two years after. I completed that first program and took another two: a 1-month Spiritual Coaching program and another 4-month Life Coaching Certification program.

What kind of coaching do you provide and who is your typical candidate?
I’m a Spiritual Life Coach, but I use a hybrid modality that combines the wisdom of coaching, teaching, consulting, and mentoring to accelerate the growth of the individual. My practice focuses on spirituality, self-mastery, emotional empowerment, and mindfulness. I help people gain awareness of the Self and the connection between the mind, the body, and the soul. I help them break the cycles of the past, break free from society’s limitations and expectations, clear their limiting beliefs, connect them back to their true essence as human beings, and help them reach a state of inner peace with whatever life throws their way. When people gain such powerful tools as awareness, choice, emotional maturity, and mindfulness, they can unlock life’s ultimate possibilities and create the life they truly desire, not one that is imposed upon them. People who feel lost, are going through emotional turmoil, suffer with their relationship with Self or others, are stuck in fear and overthinking, and want to experience happiness, joy, freedom, and love but feel overburdened, restricted, and imprisoned would benefit a lot from the hybrid modality I offer. However, I only work with people who are ready and committed to change because no one can help you change if you are unwilling or open to it. My role is to help you navigate life but never to tell you what to do or what path to take. That’s on you. It’s your responsibility to choose growth.

When did you decide to open your own office and how easy or difficult was the initial process?
That decision was made the day I knew I was ready to take yet another leap of faith: quit my job. It was sometime in June 2022. I had reached my capacity to withstand the job. Enough was enough. No more sacrificing or tolerating a place that was killing me from the inside. I decided to work on my business license, and for that, I needed an office – somewhere to embrace my truth and hold my vision. It was in September 2022 that I found THE one. Thankfully, it didn’t take me a long time to find it, thanks to a dear friend who told me about the place. The process of making it reflects my spirit and the heart of the business is what actually was difficult, and it took me a couple of months to do so.
Nevertheless, the end result is absolutely amazing, and my heart bounces with joy every time someone walks in and tells me they feel cozy and at home, which was my intent all along. I can’t imagine it’s been 9 months already since I took the office! Time flies by so fast.

Where do you start when someone comes to you as a new client?
I always start by providing both of us the time and space to build rapport and get to know each other virtually or in person. I need to first explore with my client where they are at the moment, the challenges they are going through, and what they expect from our journey together if we are to work together. I must develop an understanding of the bigger picture to evaluate whether we are a good fit, whether they can actually benefit from my modality, and whether their situation is within my field of expertise. If yes, we move forward by curating a plan for their growth and deciding on the best way(s) we can work together for the best outcome. In any case, it’s a journey that takes some time.

What are some of the services are you offering?
I offer group coaching programs, hybrid coaching and training courses, and a personalized 1:1 mentorship that combines the wisdom of the previously mentioned modalities.
I’m also planning to offer group meditation and journaling sessions, as I feel these are highly needed in today’s fast-paced world, where a large percentage of the population suffers from anxiety, stress, and burnout.

What do you consider a successful coaching session?
One that gets the clients from a state of mental chaos to order. One that gets the client to slow down, breathe, and detach from the situation, and they gain a powerful and empowering perspective. It’s the difference in the emotional state between the beginning of the session and the end of it that tells whether the session is successful or not. Calmness, peace, and groundedness are what I aim for.

What is your feeling when you see change in your client?
I can’t describe how proud, happy, and grateful I would be! Seeing someone taking a step towards awakening, healing, and reclaiming their inner authority is so precious and joyful because I know from experience how the world can change by simply working on your own growth and change. The world is a reflection of us.

What would you tell someone who is seeking professional expertise but is unsure about taking up spiritual life coaching?
I would say there’s nothing to lose here. It’s about being courageous enough to override your fear’s voice and consciously choosing yourself repeatedly. When you seek a spiritual life coach or any other coach, therapist, consultant, or whoever might help, you get to choose what is best for you. You are the only one who knows what works best and who would be the right fit for you to take up a journey with them. With coaches, there’s always this initial phase of exploration, discovery, and getting to know each other. It often won’t even cost you a thing, and it doesn’t take much to know if the person and their modality work for you. You can usually tell from a single sitting with them or by doing a quick research on them to see whether you are attracted to their mindset and approach. Just give yourself permission to try, to fail to find THE one, and then try again. That’s all you need to do, and leave the rest to God and the universe because they hear you. When you take a step forward, you are guided ten steps ahead.

What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy reading in solitude, writing, secretly dancing to my favorite music, and learning more about the world through watching movies and series from different cultures. I also enjoy swimming, walking in nature, and sitting in places where I can silently and curiously observe people. My most enjoyable times are in solitude, going within, meditating, reflecting, and visualizing how beautiful life is and can be.

Your favourite quote (s).
I love this quote by Oprah Winfrey that I once read in her book The Path Made Clear. She says: “The true meaning of courage is to be afraid, and then with your knees knocking and your heart racing, you take the leap anyway.” This has helped me stay strong and grounded in all my leaps of faith.
I also love this quote by Howard Thurman that reads: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” How sad yet true this is! That’s why I strongly believe in the world’s need for a collective awakening as soon as possible.
The last is part of one of my favorite songs, Roots Before Branches, which sings: “I gotta have roots before branches, to know who I am before I know who I wanna be. And faith to take chances, a place in this world for me.” This summarizes the whole point of seeking spiritual coaching, which is to find and connect back to your roots, to have a solid ground and a firm relationship with who you truly are. Once you do, once you claim your identity, you can go out there and claim your place in this world. That’s when the magic happens. Otherwise, you’re just masking up, trying to be a version of you painted by others.

What is your life motto?
It’s old, it’s simple, and yet it is so powerfully positive and encouraging.
Live. Laugh. Love.
And I would add a “Dare to” before each since we’ve lost the courage to live life fully, to laugh freely, and love unconditionally.

What are your plans for the future?
Any future plan I make always includes education. My plan is to keep learning and expanding my knowledge in the field, as I can never have enough of it. I’m currently interested in continuing learning about Human Design – the art of differentiation, as they call it – and I plan to become a Human Design reader and incorporate this approach into my practice. I’m also launching my Blog soon – sometime in July or August this year. In addition, I’m cooking something for the end of this year where I offer a profound, intensive, and transformative experience in a hybrid format of online and in-person where I provide the safe space for a selected number of people to embark on a journey of self-transformation, experiencing the wonders and the magic of healing the self, reconnecting with the purest version of ourselves that we were born into, committing to reclaiming our power and inner authority, and embracing our individuality. It’s going to be a space where it’s safe to go back HOME, to us.

Do you have a nugget of wisdom for our readers?
Life is a moment-by-moment creation, and you are just one decision away from living the life you’ve always dreamt of. It takes one decision, one person, and one action to change the world. Be that person who breaks the cycles, changes the rules, and never stops believing and working on making this world a better place to live in. Work on things people can’t take away from you. Work on your healing, mindset, faith, emotional maturity, and your entire being. No one can take away YOU. And whatever life throws your way, sit with it. Instead of pushing it away, sleeping it away, smoking it away, shaming it away, or running away from it, sit with it. It’s only then that you can truly heal and grow. Healing is feeling, and we must change our relationship with our emotions if we want to grow and evolve. When you evolve as a human being and work on yourself, you can become the kind of person Vironika Tugaelva addressed: “Be the person who breaks the cycle. If you were judged, choose understanding. If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. Be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you.” You can’t be that person if you are repeating the same old stories, the same old patterns, and passing down the same generational trauma. So, instead of blaming everyone and everything else, it’s time to take ownership and be the change ourselves.
