Discovering Feryal’s Culinary Artistry in Kuwait

A Taste of Lebanon

In our ongoing pursuit of exceptional dining experiences across Kuwait, the holy month of Ramadan brought us to a destination that blends cultural reverence with refined hospitality—Feryal Lebanese Restaurant, nestled in the elegant surroundings of Assima Mall. Known for its warm ambiance, evocative décor, and a menu rooted deeply in Lebanese tradition, Feryal offered the perfect setting for a memorable Iftar. From the moment we stepped inside and were greeted with dates and the aromas of authentic Lebanese dishes, it was evident that Feryal is more than just a place to dine—it’s a heartfelt homage to the spirit of Ramadan and the culinary soul of Beirut.

Last month, during the holy month of Ramadan, our team at CP Magazine had the privilege of breaking our fast at Feryal Lebanese Restaurant in Assima Mall, Kuwait. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion, and we were delighted to experience an Iftar menu thoughtfully curated to reflect the rich traditions of Lebanese cuisine while offering a contemporary dining experience. Feryal truly lives up to its reputation as a place where culinary authenticity meets elegance, and this Iftar was the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in the flavours of Lebanon.

Assima Mall, with its blend of luxurious shopping and architectural beauty, provided an ideal backdrop for Feryal. The restaurant’s location within the mall is easily accessible, making it a convenient choice for both casual visits and special occasions. As we approached the restaurant, its elegant signage beckoned us inside, hinting at the refined dining experience that awaited.

Upon entering, we were immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. The interior design of Feryal effortlessly combines traditional Lebanese elements with modern elegance. Soft, ambient lighting illuminated the intricate woodwork and patterns that speak to Lebanon’s cultural heritage. Comfortable seating arrangements provided the perfect setting for both intimate meals and larger gatherings, while the gentle sounds of traditional Lebanese music played in the background, enhancing the welcoming ambiance.

The decor is a striking blend of rustic charm and modern luxury, with handcrafted art and artisanal Lebanese pottery lending a gallery-like feel to the space. Natural materials like wood and stone, coupled with plush fabrics in earthy tones, created an inviting yet refined environment. It’s no surprise that Feryal’s design has been recognised with an ICONIC AWARD from the German Design Council for its exceptional architectural vision.

As we prepared to break our fast, we were presented with dates—an essential part of any Iftar meal—along with refreshing beverages to begin the evening. The fixed Iftar menu we opted for was perfectly tailored for our group of four, offering a delightful array of dishes that represented the essence of Lebanese cuisine.

Our Iftar began with a selection of Lentil Soup and Mushroom Soup. The Lentil Soup was a warming, velvety blend of puréed lentils, seasoned with cumin and garnished with crispy fried onions. Its comforting, earthy flavour was the perfect start to our meal, while the Mushroom Soup offered a rich and creamy texture, enhanced with fresh herbs and a delicate touch of cream. Both soups were soothing and set the stage for the feast that followed.

The starters included Lebanese Cheese Rolls, Lebanese Kibbeh, and Spicy Lebanese Potatoes. The Lebanese Cheese Rolls were a delightful indulgence—crispy, golden pastries filled with a molten blend of cheeses that provided a savory bite with every mouthful. The Lebanese Kibbeh, a quintessential Lebanese dish, was a delicious mix of ground meat and bulgur wheat, spiced to perfection, and served in a crispy exterior that complemented the tender, flavourful filling. As for the Spicy Lebanese Potatoes (or “Batata Harra”), they were an absolute highlight—crispy potato cubes tossed in garlic, coriander, and chili, offering a tantalising mix of heat and zest that awakened our taste buds.

The salads offered were a true reflection of Lebanon’s ability to balance fresh, vibrant ingredients with simple but bold flavours. The Tabbouleh was a refreshing combination of finely chopped parsley, tomatoes, and onions, all dressed in a zesty lemon and olive oil vinaigrette. Each bite was a burst of freshness. The Fattoush, with its crispy pieces of flatbread mixed with fresh greens and tangy dressing, provided a perfect counterpoint to the richness of the other dishes.

For the main course, we were treated to the Mixed Grill Platter, which included an impressive array of grilled meats, including tender lamb kebabs, juicy chicken tawook, and succulent beef tikka. Each skewer had been marinated to perfection and grilled over an open flame, resulting in a smoky char that elevated the natural flavours of the meats.

To accompany the meats, we enjoyed a generous serving of Hummus, a dish that’s synonymous with Lebanese cuisine. Feryal’s version was smooth and creamy, with a nutty tahini flavour and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, finished with a sprinkle of paprika. It was the ideal pairing with the freshly baked pita bread and grilled meats.

As our Iftar meal drew to a close, we indulged in two classic Lebanese desserts: Znoud El Sit with Kashta and Mouhalabieh. The Znoud El Sit was a perfect treat—a delicate pastry filled with luscious kashta (clotted cream), deep-fried to a golden crisp, and drizzled with fragrant sugar syrup. Each bite was an indulgent combination of crispy and creamy textures that made it impossible to stop at just one. The Mouhalabieh, a milk-based pudding, was light and silky smooth, garnished with crushed pistachios for an extra layer of flavour and crunch. It was a delicate, satisfying conclusion to our meal.

Throughout the evening, the service at Feryal was impeccable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring our Iftar experience was seamless. Their warm hospitality embodied the renowned Lebanese spirit, making us feel not only well-catered for but also genuinely welcomed.

Feryal Lebanese Restaurant at Assima Mall offers a truly memorable Iftar experience.
