Tell us about your education.
I earned my degree in Human Resources. I chose to study HR because I was intrigued by the idea of understanding and improving workplace dynamics. I truly believe that HR is the backbone of any organization.
How did the idea of becoming travel influencers first come about? What inspired you to document your travels and share them with the world?
As an HR professional, I’ve always valued the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultures and perspectives. This, coupled with my innate love for exploring new places, sparked my interest in travel. The idea of becoming a travel influencer evolved naturally over time. As I began to travel more frequently, I found myself wanting to capture and document my experiences not just for my personal memory, but to share with others as well. I was inspired by the idea of showing people the beauty and diversity of the world, hoping to inspire them to step out of their comfort zones and explore. I also wanted to provide practical tips and insights that could help aspiring travelers navigate different countries and cultures. The positive feedback and engagement from my online community further fueled my passion for sharing my travel experiences, and this is how my journey as a travel influencer began.

My goals for travelling extend beyond just visiting new places. Firstly, I aim to deepen my understanding of the world by immersing myself in different cultures, traditions, and histories. I believe that travel is a powerful tool for personal growth and broadening one’s perspectives. Secondly, I aim to create meaningful connections. In essence, my goal is not just to travel, but to travel with purpose and impact.
Do you prefer beach, city or culture holidays?
While I can appreciate the relaxation of a beach holiday and the bustling energy of city breaks, my preference definitely leans towards culture holidays. I’ve always been fascinated by the richness and diversity of cultures around the world. I love delving into the history of a place, exploring its art and architecture, and immersing myself in its traditions and customs. I find that such experiences give me a deeper understanding of the world and broaden my perspectives. So, when choosing a holiday, I am always drawn to places that offer rich cultural experiences.
Share some interesting stories from your travelling?
Certainly, I have quite a few! In Bodrum, Turkey, I had the pleasure of experiencing a traditional Turkish bath or ‘hammam’. It was an invigorating experience that left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. What made it more interesting was the fact that the hammam was centuries old, and I could feel the weight of history in the marbled rooms. In Cairo, Egypt, I visited the Pyramids of Giza. While the pyramids themselves were awe-inspiring, the real adventure was a camel ride in the desert around them. It was not as easy as it looked and my camel had quite the personality, but the view of the pyramids in the setting sun was worth every minute. In Rome, Italy, I decided to wake up very early and head to the Trevi Fountain, which is usually crowded with tourists. Experiencing it in the quiet of the early morning, with no one else around, felt like I had the whole history of Rome to myself. I tossed a coin into the fountain, making a wish as per the tradition. Each of these experiences was unique and left me with a deep appreciation for the cultures and histories of these amazing places.
Travelling to different countries exposes you to various cultures and ways of life. How has your perspective on the world and its diversity evolved through your travels?
Absolutely, traveling has truly broadened my worldview and understanding of the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our world. Each country I’ve visited has left an indelible mark on me and shaped my perspective in unique ways. In Malaysia, I was struck by the harmonious blend of different cultures, including Malay, Chinese, and Indian. This multiculturalism was evident in everything from the food to the architecture, languages, and customs. It taught me that different cultures can not only coexist but flourish together, creating a rich and vibrant society. In the USA, what stood out to me was the concept of the ‘melting pot’, where people from all over the world bring their cultures and traditions to create a diverse and dynamic society. The country’s vastness and regional differences also showed me that one nation can encompass a multitude of experiences, landscapes, and ways of life. Ireland, on the other hand, offered me a deep dive into a culture steeped in history and folklore. The Irish people’s pride in their heritage, their warm-hearted hospitality, and their ability to find joy and humor in life’s simple pleasures made me appreciate the importance of preserving cultural traditions while also embracing modern life. Through these travels, I’ve learnt to appreciate and respect the differences and similarities that weave us together as a global community. I’ve learnt that every culture holds its own unique charm and wisdom, and that our diversity is indeed our strength. Traveling has made me a more compassionate, understanding, and adaptable person, and I’m grateful for these life-changing experiences.
What upcoming destinations or travel goals are you particularly excited about, and why?
I am extremely excited about my upcoming trips this year to Moscow and Vienna, as they both have been on my travel wishlist for quite some time. Moscow has always intrigued me with its rich history and stunning architecture. I am particularly eager to visit the Kremlin and the Red Square, which are symbols of Russia’s fascinating past and present. I’m also looking forward to experiencing Moscow’s art scene, particularly the Tretyakov Gallery, and exploring its vibrant food markets. There’s something about the city’s blend of the grandeur of the past and the energy of the present that I find very appealing. On the other hand, Vienna is a city that seems to embody the spirit of music and art. As a lover of classical music, I am thrilled at the prospect of attending a concert at the Vienna State Opera, one of the leading opera houses in the world. I’m also excited about visiting Schönbrunn Palace and the Belvedere Museum to dive deep into the city’s royal history and art scene. Vienna’s famed coffee house culture is another aspect I’m particularly interested in experiencing. Each of these cities offers a wealth of cultural experiences, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in them. I believe these trips will not only be enjoyable but also enriching, giving me a deeper understanding of these European cultures.
Travelling sustainably and responsibly has become increasingly important. How do you incorporate these principles into your journeys, and what steps do you take to minimize your environmental impact?
I absolutely agree that sustainable and responsible travel is crucial in today’s world, and I strive to incorporate these principles into my journeys in several ways. Firstly, I make a conscious effort to stay in eco-friendly accommodations. I look for hotels or guesthouses that have a clear sustainability policy, such as energy-efficient practices, waste reduction, and water conservation programs. Secondly, I’m mindful of my consumption. I carry a reusable water bottle, avoid single-use plastics, and support local businesses that prioritize sustainability. This includes eating at local restaurants that source their ingredients locally, helping to reduce food miles. I also ensure that any activities I participate in are respectful of the environment and local communities. For example, I avoid attractions that exploit animals or harm the environment, and I always stick to marked trails when hiking to protect local flora and fauna. Lastly, I believe in the principle of ‘Leave No Trace.’ I make sure I dispose of all waste correctly, and I avoid taking souvenirs from natural sites to preserve the environment for future generations. I believe that every little step counts, and if we all make an effort, we can make a significant difference in protecting our planet while still enjoying our travels.
What are your top 3 travel tips?
Traveling can be an enriching experience if done right. Here are my top three travel tips: 1. Plan but be flexible: It’s always a good idea to plan your itinerary ahead of time to make the most out of your trip. However, it’s equally important to remain flexible. Make sure to leave some room in your schedule for spontaneous adventures or unexpected changes. They might end up being the highlights of your trip! 2. Embrace local culture: Engage with local communities, eat local food, and learn a few words in the local language. These experiences not only enrich your travels but also help support local economies. Remember to always be respectful and sensitive to local customs and traditions. 3. Stay safe and secure: Always keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded places. It’s also wise to keep digital and physical copies of your important documents in case they get lost. Do research on the safety of the areas you’re visiting and consider purchasing travel insurance for peace of mind.
Who takes your photos when you travel? What equipment do you use?
Most of my photos are taken by my sister or friendly locals that I meet during our travels. As for equipment, I keep it simple and use only my cellphone. It’s convenient and does a great job capturing the moments I want to remember.
Your most memorable or most influential travel experience?
That’s a tough one. I don’t have a single memorable travel experience as each country and each visit holds a unique and special place in my heart. Every journey has contributed to my understanding of the world and created unforgettable moments.
What are your favourite ways to keep fit while travelling?
As a food lover, I love exploring local cuisines while travelling. To balance this, I focus on portion control, ensuring I don’t overindulge. Additionally, I enjoy walking extensively while exploring new cities. This not only helps me stay fit, but allows me to immerse myself in the local culture and environment.
What are your favourite travel gadgets?
As an AI, I don’t use gadgets, but I can say that my favorite ones are my smartphone because it serves multiple purposes like navigation, photography, and communication. Additionally, I value a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones for long journeys, and a portable power bank to ensure my devices stay charged on the go.
How would you describe Bahrain to travel influencers/bloggers who have not been there yet?
Bahrain is a hidden gem in the Middle East, blending modernity with rich, historical roots. It’s a small island nation that packs a punch with its vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and diverse attractions. From exploring the ancient Bahrain Fort and the traditional Manama Souq to sampling delectable local cuisine and experiencing the thrill of Formula 1 at the Bahrain International Circuit, there’s something for everyone. The skyline in the capital city, Manama, is a testament to its rapid development, but the country still holds onto its traditions, best seen in its preserved architecture and pearl diving heritage. Bahrain truly provides a unique travel experience that intertwines the past and the present. Shortly, it’s small country with a big heart and plenty to offer!
What are some of your other hobbies?
Besides my passion for travel, I have a deep love for both reading. It provides an escape for me and also fuel my creativity. I enjoy delving into different genres of literature and expressing my thoughts and ideas through writing. Additionally, spending quality time with my family and friends is very important to me. Whether we’re having a simple meal together, catching a movie, or exploring new places, I cherish those moments greatly.
Of all the countries you have visited so far, which is your favourite destination for food?
Choosing a favourite is quite difficult as each city offers unique and delicious cuisines. But if I had to pick, I would say Istanbul. The city’s culinary scene is diverse and vibrant, offering a delightful fusion of flavours. From the aromatic spices and the freshness of the seafood to the sweetness of the baklava and the unique taste of Turkish tea and coffee, every meal in Istanbul was an adventure in itself. The city truly is a food lover’s paradise.
