FormerlyMe.com presents “On The Go: Hawaii”

FormerlyMe is an online movement to motivate and inspire people to become the best version of themselves by showing them my journey and experience in trying a new workout and lifestyle regime every 30 days.   Every post, update, and video is ‘formerly me’ as I endeavor to become the best version of myself and become FormerlyMe.  Each month CP Magazine will showcase a part of my journey to becoming the best version of myself.  I hope that in turn this inspires and motivates you to start your own journey as well.  For this month’s story we will focus on the “On The Go:  Hawaii” days of my journey.

Aloha! The greeting that means both hello and goodbye.  It is meant to express many feelings of either love, affection, compassion, mercy, sympathy, pity, kindness or grace.  Simply a beautiful word.  I had lived in Hawaii when I was a kid, and been back many times to speak at security conferences there.  This time would be a trip of pure exploration and pushing my limits with a hike to a waterfall.

I decided this trip I wanted to drive all the way around the island.  I got to visit many viewpoints and take in some breathtaking views.  I drive until the road just ended into a protected State Park.  Below is the seashore at the road’s end.

The next day I went on a hike to see a waterfall.  Manoa Falls is rated a easy hike due to most of the pathway being clear and steps along certain points.  The entire hike takes typically about 1.5 hours and it is quite a tall waterfall.  Park Officials warn to NOT drink the water or swim in the pool as people have gotten sick from bacteria in the water from animal waste.

Driving the roads along the ocean felt peaceful and serene.  Hiking also had some awe inspiring moments.  I felt a connection to nature and the treasures it has for us to see.  Things that technology and social media can’t feed our souls.  Former NASA Astronaut, William Anders once said of his photo taken of earth rising to the moon, “We set out to explore the moon and instead discovered the Earth.”.  Now more than ever, I want to discover more treasures the earth holds.

Follow my journey online at FormerlyMe.com and on the YouTube channel.  Next month I will cover my more unique experiences I had in 2021-2022.  Until next time that has been FormerlyMe!
