From Lebanon, with love: Orient 499 arrives in the UAE

Born in the heart of Lebanon, Orient 499 is set to bring the Middle East’s rich heritage and handicrafts to the UAE this December. Opening doors at Dubai’s art and culture hub, Alserkal Avenue, the concept brings together a unique blend of sustainable luxury and authentic regional craftsmanship. Orient 499 offers a curated selection of womenswear, menswear, and homeware, all handcrafted by skilled local artisans. Each piece carries the distinct touch of the artisan behind it, giving each one an individual and one-of-a-kind character.

Founded in 2006 by creative minds Aida Kawas and Frank Luca, Orient 499 is committed to preserving Lebanese heritage through slow-made home accessories and ready-to-wear, that lays emphasis on tradition, creativity, and quality. Aida, a Lebanese designer with over 30 years of experience in fashion and artisanal craft, draws inspiration from the cultural richness of the Levant, infusing every piece with authenticity and storytelling. Frank, originally from Belgium, grew up surrounded by rare and beautiful objects, thanks to his parents’ work as antique dealers. His appreciation for craftsmanship and design led him to the Levant, where he connected deeply with the region’s artistic traditions. Together, Aida and Frank joined hands to build a brand that bridges cultures, blending heritage with contemporary design.

With a passion for discovering exquisite materials from around the world, including during their travels, Frank and Aida take pride in curating a range of unique ready-to-wear, where no two pieces are alike. From exquisite Italian Loro Piana cashmere to handcrafted textiles from around India, the levant and more, the fabrics are brought to life through design and construction at the brand’s atelier in Lebanon.

With a dedication to ethical, handmade luxury, Orient 499 celebrates the rich tapestry of Levantine craftsmanship, supporting local artisans and ensuring that these traditional skills endure for future generations. Each piece – whether a flowing silk abaya, a hand-embroidered jacket, hand-carved mother-of-pearl home decor, or hand-hammered copper tableware – is crafted with conscience, showcasing the exceptional skills of Lebanon’s artisans.

For nearly two decades, Orient 499 has partnered with artisans from across Lebanon, including coppersmiths, glassblowers, soap makers, carpenters, embroiderers, and couturiers. By bringing these craftspeople’s skills to a global audience, Orient 499 supports the preservation of Lebanese craftsmanship while offering products that are not only beautiful but ethically produced. With showrooms in Beirut and Dubai, and an online store shipping worldwide, Orient 499 invites people to discover and cherish the creativity and artistry of Lebanese artisans.

Orient 499 launches in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue this December, to offer the city a thoughtfully curated collection of ready-to-wear, accessories and homeware that honors cultural heritage while offering an elevated, contemporary aesthetic. Orient 499 is a celebration of beauty, authenticity, and sustainable luxury – designed to bring the timeless artistry of the Levant to discerning customers in Dubai and beyond.
