GUERLAIN ANNOUNCES CHARLOTTE LE BON AS ITS GLOBAL BEE AMBASSADOR

On the occasion of the World Bee Day celebrated on May 20th, Guerlain is delighted to announce that the artist, director and actress Charlotte Le Bon has been named Bee Ambassador, a bespoke role dedicated to the Maison’s commitment to bee conservation, initiated in 2010.
This collaboration marks a new step forward in Guerlain’s ambition to combine artistic excellence with environmental responsibility.

A COLLABORATION ROOTED IN SHARED VALUES

At Guerlain, authentic and lasting encounters are built on mutual ideals and shared values. The Maison’s collaboration with Charlotte Le Bon was therefore an obvious choice. United by a passion for Nature and Art, they share the desire to celebrate and preserve what inspires them.

Charlotte Le Bon grew up in the Laurentides to the north of Montreal, Canada, a region known for its breathtaking lakes and unspoilt forests. It was there that she developed an intimate relationship with Nature, before settling there in 2020.

A consummate and multidisciplinary artist, she pays homage to the beauty of the living world through cinema, painting, drawing and photography. Her free and multifaceted creative approach echoes the Maison’s philosophy, which has been committed for more than 15 years to helping to protect biodiversity.

“Nature has boundless evocative powers and is both my refuge and my muse. I’m extremely proud to become Guerlain Bee Ambassador, a role that will allow me to connect with a wider audience, especially concerning bees, which hold an absolutely vital place in our ecosystems.”  Charlotte Le Bon

Her environmental commitment also led her to lend her voice to the documentary Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, directed by Edward Burtynsky, Nicholas de Pencier and Jennifer Baichwal (2018), raising awareness of the issues linked to the impact of human activity on the planet.

THE BEE, GUERLAIN’S SYMBOL & GUARDIAN OF BIODIVERSITY

The bee has continued to inspire and guide Guerlain since it first came to rest on the Maison’s iconic bottle in 1853. Through its diversity – more than 20,000 species worldwide, in an infinite palette of shapes and colours – it embodies this abundant, inventive and vibrant Nature that fosters Guerlain creations. It is also – and above all – an exceptional pollinator, vital to the reproduction of numerous plants, along with the food security of our planet.

A witness to its time that is now endangered, the bee is the focus of three meaningful Guerlain initiatives: the Guerlain for Bees Conservation Programme, which works to protect them; Women For Bees, which combines biodiversity protection with women’s empowerment; and the Bee School, which educates future generations about the future of bees and the importance of protecting them.

Launched in 2018, the Bee School is taking flight in a new direction this year. Through Guerlain’s collaboration with the Espace pour la Vie Foundation, the Montreal Insectarium will be developing new educational content, encompassing wild bees and other pollinators. By placing education and awareness-raising at the heart of its efforts to protect bees, the Maison is turning its commitment to bees into a lever for collective action.

As Bee Ambassador, Charlotte Le Bon will be taking part in Guerlain’s new partnership with the Space For Life Foundation. Moreover, she will play an active role in other Guerlain initiatives on behalf of bees, through immersive experiences, artistic events and inspiring messages, reflecting the values she shares with the Maison.

“Guerlain has always collaborated with artists who passionately embody its values of authenticity, commitment and excellence. I am therefore delighted to welcome Charlotte Le Bon to our family. She is a fascinating woman whose eye, singularity and sensibility will support – in an inspiring and spirited way – our mission for a future that is more respectful towards the living world.” Gabrielle Saint-Genis, CEO of Guerlain
