Unveiling Haya Alkhashram’s Artistic Odyssey.
Hi, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello readers, this is Haya Alkhashram founder and CEO of Dylunio for interior architecture and design.
Tell us about your education.
I holder a diploma in Interior decoration and a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture.
When did you first realize you wanted to be an interior designer?
By the age of 12, I realized that I was fascinated by art, colors, and creativity. And that had me believe that interior design is where I would find myself in.
Tell us your journey to opening your company Dylunio? What does Dylunio mean?
I have always believed that one day I would start up my own company. However, it took me a while to understand the business and its needs. At first, I used to work as a freelancer while pursuing my bachelor’s degree. After completing my degree in interior architecture, my aspiration grew and I had the confidence needed to establish Dylunio.
What is something about the design industry that you wish you knew when starting your business?
When I first started my business, I thought that I would be taking all the decisions regarding the designs. But the real fact is that the situation is not always like this. I had to learn how to balance and combine between my tase in design and the client’s taste in design.
What issues or difficulties did you face while establishing your business?
Like all businesses at first, they may be issues and difficulties. But for me, I will not say that it was an issue, but I did faced some difficulties. That was learning how to understand the mindset of each client that I work with and how to compromise between two ideas or more into one final result that would satisfy the client at the completion of the project.
What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, I am working on 3 commercial and 5 residential projects.
How do you get your design inspiration? What inspires you?
Anywhere can serve as a source of inspiration. Whether it be a line of poetry, a bird flying, the beauty of nature, or even the colors on a sidewalk. You will provide your best when you use these images as inspiration and incorporate them into your own work. Every design involves a team effort. Every day, we build on new fresh concepts.
What’s your favorite type of space to design?
There is no preference on a space type, because each type, specifically each project has its own story and journey. I work on each project with a creativity that will make it one of a kind.
What is your process? Walk us through how you approach a new design project?
For me personally, I have steps that I always do before I start to design any project. I usually try to understand the client’s mindset and their likes and dislikes either in colors or anything surrounding them. Then know more about their space and the use of it and most importantly the number of members that will be using it. Finally, I start to create unique designs inspired by the information I got from the client.
How would you describe your style? What makes you and Dylunio unique?
Dylunio for me is not just a company, but it’s an opportunity to bring to life ideas that some people think is impossible to create. I believe that going out of the box is my style in design. I may not follow the rules in creating spaces, but the end result for Dylunio is that I create a space that was inspired by anything anyone could imagine.
What services are provided at Dylunio?
In Dylunio, we provide interior design services, landscaping, and contracting.
How do you curate a space versus simply decorating it?
Creativity, imagination, and innovation. Treating a space as if it’s not just a floor plan to furnish, but as it’s a place that I would transform into a haven for its users.
Is there anything you don’t love about the business side of the design industry?
When I decided to be part of the design industry, I learned that I have to love it with all its goods and flaws. So, after having the experience, I will proudly say that no, there is nothing that I don’t love about the business side of the industry. I feel that even when I get stressed or very busy, I still work through it because I do it with love and passion.
What is your design motto?
My deign motto is always go above and beyond with each project.
What is the most rewarding aspect of the design process for you?
For me the most rewarding aspect is the finale outcome of the project.
What is your biggest achievement(s) so far?
I believe that my biggest achievements are when every time I present the project completed to the client and they would truly appreciate the work that has been done. Nothing is more exhilarating than finishing a project, having satisfied clients, and receiving praise for my work as an interior designer.
What are your biggest passions?
My passion is art and the way of reflecting my art into designs is my biggest passion.
What is your plan for the future?
My plan for the future is for Dylunio to be known as the place that people would trust the spaces with. For it to be a place that’s not just for clients, but also for future interior architects and designers to learn and grow more with the skills and creativity.
What skills would you expect from an Interior Design student or Interior Design graduate to stand out when searching for a job in the industry?
For all those who want to be interior designers they should have a keen eye for detail and creativity, know more about the trend identification, and have an excellent communication skill. Never forget the most important key for designers, creativity and always think out of the box.
Finally, tell me something about yourself that others may be surprised to know about you?
The other side of me as an interior designer and an artist, is my passion and love for food and travel.
