Maison Margiela launches the Tabi Collector’s series

Maison Margiela introduces the first edition of the Tabi Collector’s series through the launch of the limited-edition Tabi Broken Mirror Embroidery. The Tabi Collector’s series is conceived as a yearly release celebrating the house’s Tabi through innovative techniques and material exploration.

The first iteration presents a three-dimensional interpretation of the Broken Mirror treatment -originally introduced in the AW15 Artisanal collection, reflection of light and metallic silver hues have been integral to Maison Margiela’s DNA since its foundation. A silver coating is applied to the leather of the Tabi which is then cracked as the mirror gradually fractures, revealing the material beneath.

The technique is transformed for the Tabi Broken Mirror Embroidery. Each pair is hand-embroidered with more than 8,000 glass beads, sequins, and metallic embellishments. The metallic fragments are crafted in varying shades and laser-cut to evoke the fractured surface of aged glass. Individually treated, they form a gradation at the edges, simulating the natural oxidation of a broken mirror over time. Transparent glass beads are interspersed throughout the embroidery, accentuating depth and dimension.

Limited to 25 pairs worldwide, the Tabi Broken Mirror Embroidery will be displayed in selected stores from 30 October 2025.

About the Tabi

Founded in a heritage of craftsmanship, the Tabi has been an emblem of Maison Margiela since its debut in 1988 by Martin Margiela. Each pair is the result of an artisanal process that cannot be industrialised, brought to life by the expertise of 11 dedicated artisans whose mastery of the shoe’s unique form ensures an enduring standard of precision.

To spotlight this savoir-faire, Maison Margiela will present a film created with Italian Film Maker Yuri Ancarani, a visual exploration

tracing the journey of the Tabi from concept to final form, heralding the shoe as a work of art.
