Blending art, science, and AI to make education creative, human, and inspiring.

When Ruqaya AlSayed Ebrahim first discovered the world of artificial intelligence, she didn’t see code or algorithms, she saw possibility. What began as curiosity soon evolved into a purpose-driven journey that would place her at the intersection of science, art, and education. Through her company REFILMS, Ruqaya has pioneered a new form of storytelling, one that uses AI filmmaking to educate, inspire, and reimagine how we understand science.
“I didn’t plan to enter AI or filmmaking,” she says. “It started with a sense of curiosity, I wanted to learn how this technology could shape creativity.” That curiosity led her to create her first AI-generated short film about Alexander Fleming, the scientist who discovered penicillin. The project won an award in Kuwait, and that recognition sparked a realization: she could merge her love of science, education, and storytelling to make learning more engaging. “Through AI films,” she explains, “I found a way to humanize science to tell the stories behind the discoveries.”

Ruqaya’s work is revolutionary in its simplicity she takes complex scientific ideas and transforms them into visual narratives that both entertain and educate. Her films go beyond facts; they bring empathy and imagination to science. “My goal is to make people, especially students fall in love with learning again,” she says. “Science is full of wonder. I just help people see it.”
For her, empowerment means freedom the ability to learn, create, and evolve without limits. “Empowerment is about courage,” she says. “It’s not about having everything figured out, it’s about daring to start.” As a woman in the emerging field of AI, Ruqaya has had to challenge perceptions and misconceptions. “In Kuwait, many people still don’t take AI seriously, especially in filmmaking,” she explains. “At first, I didn’t get much recognition or support. But I let my work speak for itself.” Her perseverance paid off her award-winning projects, growing international attention, and workshops on AI creativity are helping change how people in the region perceive this new medium.
Innovation, excellence, and performance, Porsche’s core values all resonate deeply with her. “Innovation fuels my ideas, excellence ensures my work touches hearts, and performance drives me to give my best every time,” she says. These values are visible in every project she produces. Each AI film is carefully crafted, balancing technology with storytelling, emotion with precision. “AI is my creative partner,” she adds. “It’s not here to replace human creativity, but to expand it.”
One of her proudest moments came when she saw the reaction to her first film, an audience moved by the story of a scientist told through artificial intelligence. “That moment showed me that the world is ready for new forms of art,” she recalls. “Innovation begins when we’re brave enough to experiment.”

Running REFILMS requires Ruqaya to constantly balance creativity with leadership and strategy. “Every film begins with purpose,” she says. “Creativity shapes the vision, leadership brings it to life, and strategy ensures it creates real impact.” That sense of purpose is what guides her work, every project is designed to inspire curiosity and spark dialogue.
Her greatest inspirations are the scientists whose lives she brings to screen. “They remind me that persistence and curiosity can change the world,” she says. “They faced endless challenges and still kept going. That’s the mindset I try to live by.”
Now, Ruqaya is expanding her vision. Her next milestone is to create an educational platform, a digital space offering AI-driven videos and interactive lessons that combine science and storytelling. “Think of it as a Netflix for education,” she explains. “A place where learning feels alive.”
Being part of Porsche’s EmpowerHER initiative has been a defining experience for her. “It reminded me that excellence is about community, not just achievement,” she says. “Meeting women who innovate in different fields gave me new energy and perspective.” For Ruqaya, EmpowerHER represents the very essence of progress, women supporting each other while redefining what’s possible.

Her message to other aspiring entrepreneurs is simple but powerful: “Don’t wait for permission or perfection, just start. The world is changing fast, and there’s space for every woman with a dream.”
Through REFILMS, Ruqaya AlSayed Ebrahim has given AI a new dimension not as a machine, but as a medium for imagination and education. Her story embodies the spirit of Porsche’s EmpowerHER: innovation rooted in courage, creativity driven by purpose, and a passion for inspiring the next generation to dream without boundaries.
