Fashion Brand MALNE and Son Vell Hotel Join Forces to Create a Nature-Inspired Capsule Collection
Design plays a pivotal role in the creation of capsule collections, serving as the bridge between artistic vision and practical functionality. The recent collaboration between MALNE and Son Vell Hotel in Menorca epitomizes the importance of design in fashion, particularly when it comes to sustainable and exclusive collections.
MALNE, established in 2016, was born out of a desire to reimagine fashion through a sustainable lens. The brand emphasizes craftsmanship, haute couture design, and personalized exclusivity. “We understood that we shared those values as a company when we learned about the Vestige project, whose entrepreneurs are also committed to quality, non-massified tourism, which promotes the art of valuable properties, mansions, houses of undeniable architectural and cultural value, as well as a restaurant with care and craftsmanship,” explains Paloma Álvarez, founder and creative designer of MALNE alongside Juanjo Mánez.
This shared vision led to a unique and sustainable capsule collection: Son Vell Spring-Summer 2024. The collection draws inspiration from the natural beauty of Son Vell, capturing the essence of its surroundings through design. The colors of nature at Son Vell, such as sand tones, terracotta, stone, and lush greens, are reflected in the pieces. The estate’s hundreds of olive trees and its equestrian themes, evident in horse prints and equestrian details, further influence the design.
The capsule collection showcases fluid and elegant lines, with garments like palazzo pants made of linen and silk, vests as tops, summer jackets, and silk dresses. It also includes more relaxed items such as shorts, oversized shirts, printed sarong skirts, and caftans. These pieces are not just about aesthetics; they embody the spirit of Son Vell, offering a tactile and visual representation of the hotel’s luxurious yet relaxed ambiance.
Each piece in the collection is handcrafted in MALNE’s Madrid atelier, using natural fabrics such as linen and silk sourced from a renowned fabric supplier. This meticulous attention to detail and quality underlines the brand’s commitment to sustainable production and artisanal craftsmanship. The limited series collection is sold exclusively in the boutique of Son Vell Hotel, ensuring its exclusivity and uniqueness.
Moreover, the hotel offers a bespoke service, allowing guests to place custom orders that will be sent directly to their homes. This personalized approach enhances the luxury experience, aligning with the values of both MALNE and the Vestige project.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with a fashion brand like MALNE with whom we share our vision of relaxed and sustainable luxury that we will now also offer to the guests of Son Vell in this capsule collection designed exclusively for them,” says Sebastien Styger, VP Sales and Marketing of Vestige Collection.
In essence, the collaboration between MALNE and Son Vell Hotel highlights the significance of design in creating capsule collections. It demonstrates how thoughtful, inspired design can capture the essence of a place, translate it into wearable art, and offer a unique, sustainable luxury experience. This partnership not only elevates the guest experience at Son Vell but also reinforces the importance of design in celebrating and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of a destination.
