Within the domain of luxury hospitality,, the setting is more than a backdrop; it’s a canvas that defines the narrative of an unparalleled experience. Unique settings in luxury hotels serve as the architectural poetry that sets the stage for unforgettable moments. Beyond exquisite furnishings and opulent amenities, these environments are carefully crafted to captivate the senses and transport guests to a world of sophistication and refinement. From iconic cityscapes to secluded retreats, the importance of a distinctive setting lies in its ability to elevate a stay from mere accommodation to a symphony of indulgence, creating lasting memories in the lap of luxury.

In the heart of the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Grand Cru Classé of Graves, only 30-minutes drive from the beautiful city of Bordeaux, Les Sources de Caudalie come to life. Amidst the myriad luxury hotel chains, certain entrepreneurs in the industry can discover the key to success, exemplified by Alice and Jérôme Tourbier and their exceptional hotel. They have conceptualized a space in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings. Infused with contemporary design and enriched by locally sourced and recycled materials, this property undergoes a metamorphosis, evolving into a sanctuary devoted to the art of living amidst the vineyards. This five-star retreat transcends mere hospitality, creating an immersive experience where every detail reflects the essence of French art de vivre.

Since 1999, Alice and Jérôme have continued to develop this charming 5-star hotel with 61 bedrooms and suites, three restaurants and a very unique Vinothérapie spa, a therapeutic combination of hot spring water and vine and grape extracts. The couple’s work and passion have provided this site with the warmth of a family home, while cultivating the attention to detail of the greatest luxury hotels.

There is a phenomenal feeling of peace and tranquility the minute you arrive at Les Sources de Caudalie. The rooms and suites are styled to reflect the Aquitaine region in colour, paintings and antiques. Within the interior spaces, the decor, crafted by Alice Tourbier and Delphine Sauvaget, strikes a balance between warmth and timelessness, turning the hotel into a welcoming family home. It exudes a revitalizing, modern, and elegant atmosphere, characterized by clean lines that seamlessly blend contemporary aesthetics with traditional charm. The chosen materials are consistently refined, avoiding any overt opulence. Wood plays a significant role throughout the hotel, and the furniture and decor accessories are meticulously chosen to introduce contemporary elements.

Customised creations enhance the décor and place art at the core of the experience. We can see, for example in the reception, a majestic rug created by Lia Rochas and tailor made by Ateliers Pinton, or the Hiromi and Condition Origin lights, designed especially for the hotel.

In the bedrooms, the decoration is both inspired and inspiring. The furniture recovered from antique shops co-exists in harmony with the works of art and objects created especially for the house. The ash headboards emphasise the walls in mineral shades for some and earthy shades for others. Bruder Fabrics’ precious textiles, whether woven, weft-knitted, or pile fabrics, provide warmth and softness. Accompanied by the Galerie Française, Delphine Sauvaget offers a selection of unique paintings in each bedroom.

As a whole, a harmonious unity is created. Discreet luxury for refinement down to the smallest detail. Each bedroom has its own name and echoes the history of Aquitaine, its region and its vineyards. From La Plage des Américains to la Part des Anges, as well as Les Chartrons, they all allude to the wealth of the local heritage.

The architecture of most iconic l’Île aux Oiseaux, reminds us of the huts built on stilts in Arcachon Bay, while its name refers to the island of the same name with a large population of birds. In terms of decoration, this Signature Suite involves a special partnership. Famous designers have redesigned it over the years. In 2019, the fashion designer Rabih Kayrouz created a sleek and subtle decoration, with oriental touches.

Forget panoramic views, at Les Sources de Caudalie you can swim in a work of art. The bottom of the 49-foot pool is made from an exquisite, magnified photograph of a fish fin, which gives the water a magical look. The view is pretty impressive above water too – the pool is located in a glasshouse with a wooden frame built out of timbers dating back to the 18th century.

A CULINARY OASIS
La Grand’Vigne is the Michelin Guide-awarded gastronomic restaurant boasting two stars at this exquisite property. As a Michelin-starred restaurant in the Bordeaux region, it only seems logical that La Grand’Vigne would make the most of the Aquitaine region’s fertile grounds. Thanks to the passion and dedication of horticultural expert Rachel Lagière, La Grand’Vigne reaps the benefits of the two organic and permaculture-based vegetable gardens adjacent to the restaurant. Following each season’s bountifulness, Nicolas Masse sublimes home-grown vegetables with Bordeaux’s surrounding terroir to create outstanding dishes. Under Chef Masses’s craftsmanship, the fruits of the Atlantic Coast and of the Aquitaine grounds are mingled on the stoves to create unique associations for guests to relish at.

La Table du Lavoir invites guests to immerse themselves in a unique culinary journey.
