Soul searching for one’s identity and heritage comes in different ways and for Zaid, creating this one-of piece was one of the way in which he claims his own identity as a Palestinian.
Patterns and motifs are the hallmark of Palestinian embroidery and each motif was a reflection of geography and the individual’s economic status, descent, aspirations, and lifestyle. In addition, specific motifs were given names and meanings.

The Haram Tiles “بلاط الحرم” embroidered motif is featured as an ode to Zaid’s maternal side of the family.
Featured in order, the Haram Tiles “بلاط الحرم” motif is embroidered along the shoulders followed by the Candle Stick “شمعدان” motif is embroidered across the back and further adorned with a ten-pointed star pattern made from ten interlacing kite shapes.
The Candle Stick “شمعدان” embroidered motif is featured in Altareeq as an ode to Zaid’s paternal side of the family.
