Redefining technology with empathy – bridging innovation and humanity through intelligent, emotionally aware AI.

When the world speaks about artificial intelligence, it often imagines algorithms, automation, and cold precision. But for Rawan Alotair, technology has always been deeply human. As the Grand Winner of the Porsche EmpowerHER Award 2025, she stands at the forefront of Kuwait’s innovation movement redefining what it means to lead with both intelligence and empathy.
“My journey didn’t start with an idea,” she says. “It started with a problem.”
While technology advanced at record speed, Rawan noticed something missing emotion. “There was a gap between companies and their audiences. Technology had become powerful but distant, efficient but detached. I wanted to create something that understood people, not replaced them.”
That purpose led to the birth of Octopus AI, a pioneering company that merges artificial intelligence with emotional intelligence. Launched officially in 2019 after years of collaboration with U.S. tech partners, Octopus AI was founded on a simple belief: technology should feel human.

When the pandemic struck, Rawan’s mission became more relevant than ever. “The world went digital overnight,” she recalls. “People were craving connection, and AI became a bridge between them.” For two years, her team studied human behavior observing how people expressed emotion, empathy, and intent through digital platforms. Then they spent two more years building systems that didn’t just respond to users but understood them.
“Real success,” she says, “isn’t in collecting data, it’s in understanding the human behind it.”
Empowerment, for Rawan, is about ownership and trust. “It’s the courage to say yes to what feels right and no to what doesn’t,” she explains. “Professionally, it’s about building teams that think and innovate independently. Empowerment isn’t a headline, it’s a mindset.”

Among Porsche’s core values, excellence, innovation, and performance – Rawan embodies all three. But innovation, she says, is her compass. “Innovation is the art of seeing the familiar differently. Excellence strengthens it, and performance proves it.” That same philosophy drives her approach to leadership. “Leading is like driving a Porsche,” she says with a smile. “It requires precision, intuition, and trust in your instincts. Creativity fuels it, strategy maps it, and leadership drives it forward.”
Her journey, however, was far from easy. “When I started, there was no roadmap, no one in the region was doing AI-driven customer engagement,” she recalls. “People doubted it, not out of disbelief, but because they couldn’t imagine it yet.” What began as skepticism turned into admiration as Octopus AI proved its power. “The challenge wasn’t being a woman,” she says. “It was being first.”

Octopus AI has since become a benchmark for innovation in the Arab world, pioneering solutions that allow businesses to connect with audiences more intelligently and empathetically. “We weren’t following a trend,” Rawan explains. “We were creating one.”
Her strength lies in turning obstacles into opportunities. “When things don’t go as planned, I go back to my ‘why’, why I started, what I believe in. Challenges don’t scare me; they sharpen me.”
Behind her success stand two profound influences, her mother and her mentor, Hamad Rashed Hamad Al-Mulla. “My mother gave me resilience and faith. Hamad taught me consistency that it’s stronger than beginnings.” Together, they shaped both her character and her vision.
Today, Rawan’s mission is expanding beyond Kuwait. “We’re building systems that understand language, culture, and behavior. I want to prove that Arab technology can compete globally, because innovation isn’t about geography, it’s about conviction.”
Winning the Porsche EmpowerHER Grand Award was more than recognition, it was transformation. “After the ceremony, a young woman told me, ‘You represent us perfectly.’ Those words became a responsibility,” Rawan shares. “This award isn’t just mine, it’s a promise to every woman with a dream, to open more doors, to lead with heart.”

For Rawan, leadership is emotional intelligence in action empathy guiding excellence. “True leadership isn’t about titles,” she says. “It’s about heart – a heart that listens, believes, and lifts others.”
Her message to other women is clear and powerful: “Start even if you’re not ready. Strength isn’t control; it’s consistency. The world doesn’t need perfect women, it needs real ones who lead with purpose.”
And to CP Magazine, she shares: “Thank you for showing the world the real face of Arab women, intelligent, strong, and authentic. EmpowerHER is not just a campaign; it’s a movement. A reminder that every woman belongs at the top if she dares to take that first step.”
